Privacy policy

We respect your privacy and believe you should know what happens to your data when you use MoveYourCode. Here's what we collect, why we need it, and how we handle it.

1. A little about us

MoveYourCode is a project supported by PanelAlpha. We're here to help you move your websites and applications between platforms without having to start from scratch.

If you ever have a question about your privacy, you can use the Feedback form and pick "Something else".

2. What information do we collect?

You can explore MoveYourCode and follow our migration guides without creating an account or telling us who you are.

There are just a few situations where we process information:

  • When you visit our website: We use Google Analytics to see which pages and guides people find useful. It uses cookies to count visits. Google Analytics doesn't store visitor IP addresses.
  • When you join our newsletter: We ask for your email address so we can send you new guides and occasional updates. We use MailerLite to send these emails, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like.
  • When you send us feedback: We receive your message, your email address if you provide one, and relevant information about the page or migration you're asking about. Messages go to our private Discord workspace so our team can read and respond to them.
  • When we keep the website secure: Cloudflare helps us protect MoveYourCode against spam and malicious traffic. This involves processing some technical information, including IP addresses. We also use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our forms.

Under GDPR, we need a legal reason to process personal data. For newsletters, that's your consent. For keeping the site running, improving it, protecting it, and responding to feedback, we rely on our legitimate interests. Sometimes, we may also need to process information to meet legal obligations.

These legal bases are set out in Article 6(1)(a), (f), and (c) of the GDPR.

3. What about cookies?

We don't use advertising cookies or follow you around the internet.

Google Analytics sets two cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>) to tell one visit from another. They expire after 2 years. Some essential cookies or similar technologies may be used by Cloudflare to keep the website secure.

You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

4. Do we share your information?

Only when it's necessary to run MoveYourCode.

We work with a few trusted services:

  • Cloudflare keeps the website running and helps protect it.
  • Google Analytics helps us understand how the website is used.
  • MailerLite handles our newsletter.
  • Discord helps our team manage feedback.

We don't sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.

Some of these services may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When that happens, we use appropriate legal safeguards, such as approved transfer mechanisms, to protect your information. You can contact us if you'd like more details.

5. How long do we keep your data?

Not longer than we need it.

  • Newsletter subscriptions: We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We may keep limited records of your consent or unsubscribe request where necessary.
  • Feedback messages: Messages are stored in our private Discord workspace until manually deleted by our team.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps it for 14 months, then deletes it.
  • Security logs: Cloudflare retains security logs for 3 days.

6. You're in control of your data

If GDPR applies to you, you have rights over your personal information. You can ask us to:

  • Show you what personal data we have about you.
  • Correct information that's wrong.
  • Delete your information when applicable.
  • Limit or stop certain types of processing.
  • Provide a copy of your data in a portable format, where applicable.

You can also withdraw your consent at any time. This won't affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.

Simply open our Feedback form, select "Something else" and we'll help you with your request. We'll respond within the legally required timeframe, usually within one month.

If you believe your data hasn't been handled properly, you can also contact your local data protection authority. In Poland, that's the Personal Data Protection Office.

7. How do we keep your information safe?

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle and make sure only authorized people can access it.

We don't use your personal information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

You never have to provide an email address just to browse MoveYourCode. We only need one if you'd like to receive our newsletter or get an email response to your feedback.

8. Changes and contact

MoveYourCode will keep evolving, and this policy may change as we add features or improve the website. If anything here is unclear, or you'd simply like to know more about how we handle your information, our Feedback form is always there for you.
