Lovable alternatives in 2026

This article is for people who already have an app in Lovable and want out, or half out. It is not a list of other app builders. The code Lovable wrote is a normal React project, so you make two separate choices: what you edit it with and where it runs.

Six places to take a Lovable project

Two choices, not one

Lovable does both: the editor and the hosting. When you leave, they split. An AI coding tool edits the code. A host serves it to visitors. You can change one and keep the other: edit in Cursor and keep publishing from Lovable, or keep editing in Lovable and host the app on your own server.

Edit it with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor

What it isPrice
LovableAn app builder in the browserFree plan with daily credits. Pro $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly
Claude CodeA coding agent from AnthropicA Claude plan, Pro $20 a month or $17 billed yearly, or API credits. No free plan
CodexA coding agent from OpenAIIncluded in every ChatGPT plan, also the free one. Plus is $20 a month. Or an OpenAI API key
CursorA code editor with an AI agentFree plan. Plus is $8 a month for Grok models only. Claude, GPT and other models cost extra, by usage

Prices checked on 14 and 15 October 2026. They change often, so check the pricing pages before you decide.

Claude Code and Codex are agents. You describe a change and they make it. Cursor is a code editor with an agent inside, so you also see the files and can edit them yourself.

Run it on Vercel, Cloudflare or your own VPS

HostCostThe catch
LovableHosting most small apps costs nothing for nowA custom domain needs a paid plan
VercelHobby $0. Pro $20 a monthHobby is for personal, non-commercial use only
Cloudflare PagesStatic files are free with no request limitYour main domain needs Cloudflare DNS
Own VPS with PanelAlphaAbout $5 to $15 a month for the VPSIt must be a new VPS. You run the server

What you give up

  • The visual editor. Every change goes through code, even if an AI tool writes it.
  • The Publish button. A host like Vercel or Cloudflare deploys every push to GitHub instead.
  • Lovable AI and connectors. You replace them with your own accounts and keys.

What stays the same

  • The full code. It is yours through GitHub.
  • Your own Supabase backend, if the app has one. It keeps running.
  • Lovable Cloud, if you want. It can stay while you edit elsewhere and host elsewhere.
  • Your custom domain.

Which one to pick

  • You like the visual editor: keep Lovable and edit in another tool only when you need to. GitHub sync keeps both on the same code.
  • You want an AI that does the work and you rarely read code: Claude Code or Codex.
  • You want to see and change the files yourself: Cursor.
  • You want no host bill for a business app: Cloudflare Pages. The free Vercel plan is for non-commercial use only.
  • You want the server in your own hands: your own VPS.
