Lovable migration checklist

Every point here is a step in our step-by-step guides. Skip the ones your app does not have: a static site needs a few, an app with logins, data and payments needs all of them.

Everything to check before you switch

Your setup

  • You know which kind of app you have: Vite or TanStack Start.
  • You know where the backend runs: Lovable Cloud, your own Supabase project or none.
  • You picked where the app runs next: Vercel, Cloudflare or your own server.
  • You picked the AI tool you edit with: Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.
  • You decided if you keep editing in Lovable or leave it.

Preparation

  • A GitHub account, with the GitHub CLI and Node.js on your computer.
  • An account at the new host, and at Supabase if the backend moves.
  • The login for the place where you bought your domain.
  • A backup of the database, kept out of GitHub.

Migration

  • The project is on GitHub and on your computer, and it runs on localhost.
  • The database, the users and the uploaded files are in your own Supabase project.
  • The .env file points at the new project and holds only public values.
  • Edge functions are deployed with the Supabase CLI, with their secrets.
  • AI and payment keys are your own. The Stripe webhook points at the new backend.
  • Your AI tool has a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md file about the project.
  • The app is deployed, and every push deploys it again.
  • Logins name the new address, not the Lovable one.
  • The domain points at the new host.
  • The GitHub sync is either part of your routine or turned off.

Final check

  • Every page opens on the new address, also after a reload.
  • You can log in with a real account from the old app.
  • Three records you know look the same as in the old app.
  • Uploaded files show, and a new upload works.
  • One AI request and one test payment work.
  • The domain opens the new app in a private window.
  • Lovable cannot overwrite your work any more, or you tested the sync.

Get the steps for your app

The step-by-step guide asks a few questions about your app and shows only the steps you need, with a prompt for each one. Pick your AI tool and your host. It goes through the list above in order.
