Can you self-host Lovable?
Short answer: the Lovable editor and its AI agent cannot be self-hosted. Lovable runs them for you. The app you built can run on your own server, and you can keep editing it in Lovable while it does.
What you can and cannot self-host
| Self-host? | What it means | |
|---|---|---|
| The Lovable editor and AI agent | No | Lovable runs them as a service |
| Your app | Yes | The code is yours through Git sync |
| The Lovable Cloud backend | It can move | To a Supabase project you own, on supabase.com or on your own server |
| Lovable AI and connectors | No | Replace them with your own accounts and keys |
Which kind of app you have
It depends on when you made the app. Apps created in Lovable since 13 May 2026 use TanStack Start and run server code. Older apps use React and Vite and build to static files.
- Static files (older apps): any web server or static host, like Nginx or Apache on a VPS, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages or Vercel.
- TanStack Start (newer apps): a host that also runs the server part, like Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages or your own VPS.
Not sure which one you have? Open package.json in your repository. If it lists @tanstack/react-start, it is a TanStack Start app.
What happens to the backend
Lovable Cloud can stay where it is. You can move only the app and keep the backend in Lovable. If you want the backend too, it moves to a Supabase project you own.
Can you keep using Lovable?
Yes. Keep the repository connected through Git sync and let your server deploy from it. You keep editing in Lovable and your server serves the live app.
What you take over
- The domain and the HTTPS certificate. Lovable hosting did both for you.
- Environment variables and secrets on the new host.
- Sign-in redirect URLs for the services your app still uses.
- Your own AI provider account and keys, if the app uses Lovable AI.
- Replacements for app connectors.
How to do it
The step-by-step guide asks which AI tool you use (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor) and a few questions about your app. PanelAlpha Engine then builds the app and runs it on your server.
