Move from v0: step-by-step migration guides
Take your v0 project to your own computer, on Vercel or on your own server. We'll walk you through every step.
What happens to your app when you leave v0?
Most of it is already yours. v0 publishes to your Vercel account and adds databases in your own accounts.
What you can keep
- Your app's code. A Next.js app in your own GitHub repository.
- Your Vercel project and its address.
- Your database. Neon, Supabase or Upstash, in your own account at that service.
- Your custom domain. You'll just need to point it to the new host if you leave Vercel.
What doesn't move automatically
- Environment variables. You copy them from Vercel to your computer.
- v0 chat history. It doesn't come with your code.
Our guides walk you through four stages
Your setup
Answer a few questions to get steps tailored to your app.
Preparation
Set up the accounts and tools needed for migration.
Migration
Follow the instructions and check the result of each step.
Final check
Test everything before switching. Your app stays online on Vercel until you're ready.
Before you start
Connect GitHub
Open the project settings in v0 and create a repository. From then on the repository holds the code.
Check the Vercel account
Log in to the Vercel account v0 publishes to. Your keys are in that project.
Note the database you use
Open the Storage tab of the Vercel project. It shows which databases the app uses.
